About

On 29 March 2026, I’ll be abseiling from the Europa Hotel in Belfast to raise vital funds for PIPS – and while that’s a big personal challenge, it’s nothing compared to what many people across Northern Ireland face every day when they are struggling with their mental health.

PIPS Charity provides free, immediate and confidential crisis support and counselling to anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts, engaging in self-harm, or bereaved by suicide. At a time when many people face long waiting lists or postcode barriers, PIPS offers help without delay – making sure support is there exactly when it’s needed most. Their services save lives, support families, and bring hope to people who feel they have nowhere else to turn.

Abseiling down the Europa might feel daunting, but for me it represents something much bigger than the descent. It stands for courage, solidarity and a simple message that PIPS shares every day:

No one should struggle alone. It’s okay to ask for help. There is always hope.

Every donation – big or small – helps fund crisis counselling, suicide-prevention programmes, bereavement support and community outreach delivered by PIPS Charity across Northern Ireland. Your support will genuinely help someone in their darkest moment.

I’ve taken the brave step of signing up for the challenge – now I would be so grateful for your support. Please donate if you can and help make this descent count.
